Times Square

7th Avenue and Broadway, New York NY

Nestled at the intersection between 7th Avenue and Broadway, Times Square is tourist central. Surrounded by towering video screens and billboard the square is also the heart of the Broadway theater district.

By the 1980’s Times Square had become a run down, high crime area of the city. In the 1990’s efforts to revive the area saw ABC open its Times Square studios and a number of restaurants and retailers move to the area. The LED signs are the most visible aspect of the square which are mandatory and building owners must meet minimum brightness standards.

Around the square, you’ll find the TKTS booth offering tickets to Broadway shows and at the north end, competing M&M and Hersheys stores across the street from one another.
