The Roosevelt Island Tramway is more about the ride than the destination. Starting out in east Manhattan you’ll travel a couple of blocks above the traffic on 60th Street before heading out across the East River and alongside the Ed Koch Bridge. Both on the journey and when you reach Roosevelt Island there’s great photo opportunities of Manhattan. There’s not a huge amount to explore on Roosevelt Island so head back across or to the nearby subway to continue your journey. Best of all, it’s included in your Metro card.
